A video editor that stays on your machine
Editing, AI and export all run locally: your files never leave your computer.
CriterionCaliptusCloud / freemium editors
Uploading your videos Never required to edit or export Often required for rendering or cloud AI tools
File privacy Your files stay on your disk Depends on the cloud service's terms of use
AI processing 100% local (captions, reframe, mask, voice-over) Most often based on a remote server
Business model Free, no paid tier Often freemium, with a paid tier to lift the limits
Comparison focused on local vs cloud processing, a stable and verifiable characteristic of the product, rather than pricing that varies between editors and changes regularly.
Why it matters
Your videos belong to you alone
Many modern editors rely on the cloud for AI or syncing, which means sending your files to a server. Caliptus takes the opposite path: editing, embedded AI and export all run entirely on your machine.
